Bio

Laura Bilson (b. 1997) is a photojournalist from San Diego, California. She is a staff photographer at The Post and Courier in Charleston, South Carolina. She graduated from Ohio University's School of Visual Communication as a photojournalism major in December of 2022. 

Her work reflects themes of conservation and community, and she strives to tell stories involving the relationship between people and their environments. She values visual storytelling as a way to spread understanding and curb divisiveness.


Laura is a member of the National Press Photographers Association. She has had bylines in The New York Times, The Associated Press, The Seattle Times, the US World and News Report and more, and has published projects with The Marshall Project and The Pulitzer Center. She is currently based out of Charleston, South Carolina, and is available for assignment.
